James Walshe currently manages the Programmes Team at Kerrang! Radio and Q Radio, overseeing the output which includes anything from presenters to music, live gigs and on-air commercial activity.
He works closely with the other Kerrang! and Q platforms under the Bauer Media umbrella, including the associated magazines, TV channels and online services, as well as developing relationships with other Bauer publications Empire, Heat and FHM in efforts to cross-promote radio with print media.
James trained as a broadcast journalist, beginning his career in local radio as a reporter and newsreader. He then moved into television as a news presenter and reporter, involving reports as varied as the opening of the Millennium Eye to broadcasting live from pig farms in Norfolk. From here, he became a road-tester and writer for a number of car magazines, before returning to his first love, radio, as a Producer.
With a particular focus on breakfast shows, James spent six years producing morning programmes for Juice Brighton, Galaxy Yorkshire, Galaxy Manchester and BBC Radio Manchester before assuming his current position in Birmingham. He lives on his own with a collection of dreadful old cars and is utterly hopeless in the kitchen.
