Leicester's Curve theatre in September played host to Hathi Production's take on the traditional act of marriage, as the customs of a summer Asian wedding were explored in Lalita's Big Fat Asian Wedding. That is, if you consider the arts to be a large family to turn up and lots of food!
Demon FM's David Murphy attended the official press launch for the play on Friday 20th August, where he spoke to some of the cast and designers (including drama students from De Montfort University), received a Mendhi from professional artists and occasionally got involved in some bhangra style dances, maybe even a a few village people classics (which is too horrific to include in the audio I'm afraid).
Not your typical YMCA dance!
The play/ wedding appeared at the Curve on the weekend of 16th-18th September, with dance numbers and plenty of dressing up to be had, and is now touring across the UK and hopes to party on up to the West-end for the honeymoon!
