About Us

DemonFM is the award winning radio station based at De Montfort University in Leicester, broadcasting around the clock on 107.5FM and online.

In January 2008, DemonFM teamed up with De Montfort University to enter for a Community Radio License (CRL). In June 2008, Ofcom (the regulatory body for TV, radio and telecommunications) awarded DemonFM a licence to broadcast full-time to Leicester. This now means that Demon FM is on air 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for 5 years. Our FM coverage map can be found here.

Teaming up with several local community groups, DemonFM will be bringing all the flavour of locally produced radio to more people in Leicester than ever before. Broadcasting for 16-30 year olds, we’ll be able to continue bringing innovative radio while at the same time, showcasing some of the amazing talent here at De Montfort University, and across Leicester.

There has never been a better time to get involved with us. As always we are about giving everyone the chance to join in with helping us to run a truly great radio station. It’s a fantastic experience and alongside the opportunity to meet new people, we give everyone the chance to expand their radio skills through our professional training and development sessions.

DemonFM is a valuable tool for young people looking to get into the radio and media industries. Many of our Alumni have gone onto employment with the BBCGlobal Radio (was GCAP), EMAPWise BuddahITVNOW Digital and The Radio Academy, whilst many of our DJ’s have appeared on national labels such as the Ministry of Sound.

Don’t think you have a voice for radio? No problem! There are plenty of things to get involved with on the station. Whether you can help our marketing team hand out flyers or solder audio cables for engineering, we’re sure you’ll find somewhere to put any skills you have to good use.
